I keep six honest serving-men.
(They taught me all I knew.)
Their names are What and Who and When
And How and Where and Why.
(Rudyard Kipling)
Nowadays, somewhere on the internet the use of blogs is popular with every walk of life. Blogs have different communicative function which can be exploited for different purposes. Blogs can also be of great use to students at tertiary education. Blogs can be considered as a melting pot of “academic” ideas and a place where language learners, foreign language and ESP teachers, researches exchange ideas. However, in Vietnamese colleges and universities, few studies have been done to explore the usefulness of blogs such as a science forum for students or an online journal, or where every post is published chronologically. Based on Kipling’s “honest serving-men” (What? Why? When? How? Where? and Why?), the authors ask the basic questions in order to provide a basis for turning blogs into a science forum or an online journal.. It is through these “academic forums” and “online journals” we, language learners, foreign language and ESP teachers and readers, can explore “new and exhaustive land”, contribute and share academic ideas, cooperate and interact with each other. Not only might such blogs bring better-than-expected results for the CALL community, they also are the property of all those who are interested in sharing the knowledge.
