HAI NÉT NGHĨA CỦA ĐỘNG TỪ ‘GIỚI THIỆU’ TRONG TỪ ĐIỂN TIẾNG VIỆT

Theo từ điển Tiếng Việt. NXB Khoa Học Xã Hội. Văn Tân chủ biên thì động từ ‘giới thiệu’ có hai nét nghĩa:  

GIỚI THIỆU

1. Làm cho hai người lạ nhau biết tên họ, chức vụ của nhau.

2. Làm cho biết rõ về một người nào, một việc gì : Thư viện giới thiệu sách mới.

BỐN NÉT NGHĨA CỦA ĐỘNG TỪ ‘GIỚI THIỆU’ TRONG TỪ ĐIỂN HÁN NÔM TRỰC TUYẾN

1. Truyền lời, truyền tiếp lời đi cho mọi người cùng biết. § Ngày xưa, người truyền lời khách chủ gọi là “giới” 介; “thiệu” 紹 nghĩa là: kế theo, tiếp tục. ◇Lễ Kí 禮記: “Giới thiệu nhi truyền mệnh” 介紹而傳命 (Sính nghĩa 聘義).

2. Đứng giữa mà giao tiếp với hai bên, làm cho hai bên quen biết nhau, làm cho có quan hệ. ◇La Đại Kinh 羅大經: “Nam Hiên vị chi giới thiệu, sổ nguyệt nãi đắc kiến” 南軒為之介紹, 數月乃得見 (Hạc lâm ngọc lộ 鶴林玉露, Quyển ngũ) Nam Hiên giới thiệu cho người ấy, vài tháng thì được gặp mặt.

3. Đưa ra hoặc đem lại người mới hoặc sự vật mới. ◎Như: “tha chánh tại giới thiệu nhất chủng tân sản phẩm” 他正在介紹一種新產品.

4. Làm cho hiểu rõ hoặc quen thuộc. ◎Như: “giới thiệu kinh nghiệm” 介紹經驗.

‘AI’ (TRÍ TUỆ NHÂN TẠO) CHO NGHĨA CỦA ĐỘNG TỪ ‘GIỚI THIỆU’

“Giới thiệu” có nghĩa là làm cho hai người lạ quen biết nhau (về tên, chức vụ) hoặc làm cho ai đó biết rõ về một người, một sự vật, một sự việc. Nó cũng có thể hiểu là trình bày hoặc đưa ra thông tin ban đầu về một đối tượng.

Các cách hiểu khác nhau:

Làm quen: Làm cho hai người lạ mặt biết tên, chức vụ, hoàn cảnh của nhau.

Ví dụ: “Anh Nam xin phép được giới thiệu bạn mình là Hoa.”

Cung cấp thông tin: Làm cho người khác biết rõ hơn về một điều gì đó.

Ví dụ: “Thư viện giới thiệu cuốn sách mới ra mắt.” hoặc “Công ty giới thiệu sản phẩm mới.”

Trình bày chung: Đưa ra những thông tin cơ bản và khái quát về một đối tượng nào đó.

Ví dụ: “Bài phát biểu mở đầu bằng phần giới thiệu chung về chủ đề.”

Trong giao tiếp: Trong giao tiếp hàng ngày, “giới thiệu” có thể dùng để nói về việc bạn tự giới thiệu về bản thân mình, chẳng hạn như tên, tuổi, quê quán.

Ví dụ: “Xin chào mọi người, tôi là An, tôi đến từ Đà Nẵng.”

– INTRODUCE /ˌɪntrəˈdus/

o Before the talk began, the chairman introduced the speaker.

o Have you two been introduced?

o Kevin introduced me to his friend at the party?

2. GIỚI THIỆU một ai đó (với một ai đó)

– PRESENT /prɪˈzent/

o May I present Professor Carter?

o Later on I’d like to present you to the headteacher.

o May I present my new assistant to you?

o I’m pleased to present my son, Charles.  

3. GIỚI THIỆU dẫn một chương trình, một sô diễn

– PRESENT /prɪˈzent/

o Our music program will be presented by Mr A who…

o She used to present  a gardening program on TV.

o Now, presented by Cliff Mitchelmore, ‘Holiday’.

o She presents the late-night news.  

– INTRODUCE /ˌɪntrəˈdus/

o And now here is Harvey Wolfsheim to introduce the show.

o The concert will be introduced by Richard Baker, who will describe the music we are going to hear.

– HOST /həʊst/

o Oprah Winfrey regularly hosts her own TV chat show.

o The show, hosted by journalist Robert Elms, features movie stars and singers.

4. GIỚI THIỆU một quán ăn, khách sạn, thư ký… (tiến cử)

– RECOMMEND /ˌrekəˈmend/

o Can you recommend a reasonable hotel near here?

o The first applicant was recommended by a friend of the boss.

o She was recommended for the post by a colleague.

o I’ll take her out for dinner this evening. Can you recommend me a nice restaurant?

5. GIỚI THIỆU (bệnh nhân) cho một bác sĩ/gởi bệnh nhân đến bác sĩ để xin lời khuyên/quyết định

– REFER /rɪˈfɜː(r)/

My doctor referred me to a specialist.

6. GIỚI THIỆU một tài liệu tham khảo cho ai

– REFER/RECOMEND

o She referred me to some material on only children.

o The professor referred me to an article she had written on this subject.

o I recommend a book to all my students.

7. GIỚI THIỆU một sản phẩm,  luật (lệ) 

– INTRODUCE /ˌɪntrəˈdus/

o The company is introducing a new range of products this year.

o The new law was introduced in 2007.

o We want to introduce the latest technology into schools.

– LAUNCH /lɔːntʃ/

o The airline will launch its new transatlantic service next month.

o The company is launching a new model next month. 

8. GIỚI THIỆU trình bày hoặc đưa ra thông tin ban đầu về một đối tượng

– GIVE/MAKE/DO A PRESENTATION /ˌprezənˈteɪʃən/  

a talk to a group in which information about a new product, plan, etc. is presented:

give/make/do a presentation

o I made a presentation to the board, but sadly it was rejected.

o The speaker gave an interesting presentation on urban transport.

9. GIỚI THIỆU tổng quát     

– PROVIDE/GIVE AN OVERVIEW /ˈəʊvəvjuː/

o The second chapter will provide an overview of the issues involved.

o I’ll give you a brief overview of what the job involves.

10. GIỚI THIỆU tóm tắt ( = thông báo ngắn gọn)    

– BRIEF /briːf/

o Mr. and Mrs. Chan, together with senior defense officials, are briefed on the ship’s capabilities during their tour on board Victory.
