1. Giới thiệu ai (to introduce somebody formally, especially to somebody of higher rank or status)

2. Triệu chứng (về bệnh nhân), đặc biệt ở báo cáo ca bệnh (of a patient) to have a certain symptom or medical condition, especially as reported during a medical examination.

Khi giới thiệu ca bệnh, bác sĩ giới thiệu các chi tiết một ca bệnh cho đồng nghiệp tại buổi họp khám và chữa bệnh.

Sau đây là một phần (section) gồm:

– Giới thiệu (Introduction): I’d like to present (giới thiệu) Mr A).

– Tuổi và nghề nghiệp bệnh nhân (Patient’s age and occupation): a 34-year-old plumber.

– Mô tả triệu chứng và thời gian (Presenting symptom(s) and duration): who presented with a one-month history of breathlessness.

MỘT PHẦN (SECTION) TRONG GIỚI THIỆU CA BỆNH

– I’d like to present (giới thiệu) Mr A, a 34-year-old plumber, who presented with a one-month history of breathlessness. (Tôi muốn giới thiệu ông A, một thợ sửa ống nước 34 tuổi, có triệu chứng khó thở kéo dài một tháng).

GIỚI THIỆU CA BỆNH BÊN GIƯỜNG BỆNH (BEDTIME PRESENTATION)

Một loại giới thiệu ca bệnh ít trang trọng hơn (less formal) ở bên giường bệnh nhân, ví dụ, đi thăm khám trong khoa (ward round), khi bác sĩ nội trú (house officer) / sinh viên y khoa (medical student) giới thiệu một bệnh nhân mới với bác sĩ tham vấn (consultant)/ trợ giáo (tutor):

– This is Mr Simpson. He’s 34, and he is a plumber. He came into hospital yesterday, sent by his GP. He’s complaining of breathlessness, which he’s had for one month … (Xin giới thiệu đây là ông Simpson. Ông Simpson 34 tuổi và là một thợ sửa ống nước. Ông ấy đã nhập viện ngày hôm qua do bác sĩ gia đình của anh ấy gửi đến. Ông ấy khai khó thở kéo dài một tháng…)

Khi một bác sĩ viết báo cáo ca bệnh:

– A 34- year-old plumber presented with a one-month history of breathlessness .

(Một thợ sửa ống nước 34 tuổi có triệu chứng khó thở kéo dài một tháng)

Hoặc văn phong ít trang trọng hơn:

– Mr Simpson is a 34-year-old plumber. He presentd with a one-month history of breathlessness. (Ông Simpson là thợ sửa ống nước 34 tuổi. Ông ấy có triệu chứng khó thở kéo dài một tháng).
